Clipboard with Medicare Parts

Parts of Medicare

Part A - This covers your hospital stay, hospice, skilled nursing and home health care.  This is the part your FICA taxes paid for through out your work life.  Most people will not have to pay a premium for Part A.

Part B - This covers outpatient services, doctor visits, lab work, medical equipment and therapy.  Most people will have a Part B premium to pay after they enroll.

Part C - Medicare Advantage - Medicare Advantage plans are administered by private insurance companies.  If enrolled in one of these plans, it will take the place of your Original Medicare.  Many of these plans are comprehensive and cover everything from doctor visits, Dental and prescriptions.  There may or may not be an additional premium for these plans.

Part D - Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) - If you enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan, this may be included in that plan.  If you choose to purchase a supplement, you will have to purchase a Stand Only PDP.  It is important to check formularies or the list of covered medications, when it comes to PDP.
